Chatcove changelog: what changed in each version
The current version is 0.1.6. The app downloads updates and offers to restart, or use Check for Updates in the app menu. Everything stays on your Mac.
0.1.6 - 10 October 2026
Section titled "0.1.6 - 10 October 2026"- Export several chats at once: tick the box next to each chat in the Chats list (shift-click ticks a range), then click Export selected.
- Each chat gets its own folder, named after the chat. Exporting several chats creates one dated
Chatcove-Export-...folder with a subfolder per chat. - A single chat is saved in a folder with the date and time added, so a new export never overwrites an earlier one.
- Emoji and right-to-left names are kept in folder names. Two chats with the same name get "Name (2)".
- Progress shows which chat is being exported. If one chat fails, the others still export and the failed ones are listed at the end.
- Round video messages now show in conversations and are included in exports.
0.1.5 - 9 October 2026
Section titled "0.1.5 - 9 October 2026"- Photos, stickers, videos and voice notes now show inside conversations. Earlier versions showed "Image unavailable".
- Media you open, or that an export needs, is no longer deleted from the cache too early. HTML exports of media-heavy chats could come out with photos missing before.
- An image that fails to load is fetched again once, automatically.
- You do not need to clear the media cache after updating.
0.1.4 - 9 October 2026
Section titled "0.1.4 - 9 October 2026"- Chatcove now runs on macOS 12 Monterey and later. Before, the real minimum was higher.
- macOS 11 now shows the standard "needs a newer version of macOS" message.
- OpenSSL in the bundled device tools moved to 3.6.4, so older iPhones still connect.
0.1.3 - 16 September 2026
Section titled "0.1.3 - 16 September 2026"- Backups that stopped at "Could not perform backup protocol version exchange, error code -1" now get further, and the app reports the real error code when the handshake still fails.
- If the iPhone does not answer at the start of a backup, Chatcove retries on its own (up to 3 more attempts), then shows clear steps.
- New: Report a problem, from the Help menu, Settings and every error card. You see exactly what will be sent first. It never includes your messages, contacts or media. You can also save the report to a file.
- Logs now live in
~/Library/Logs/Chatcove, with the backup password, license key and personal details redacted.
0.1.2 - 11 September 2026
Section titled "0.1.2 - 11 September 2026"- If you activate while offline, Chatcove registers this Mac the next time you connect. You have 21 days, and Settings shows how many are left.
- If this Mac cannot be registered because the key is already on its maximum number of Macs, Settings says so and explains how to free one.
0.1.1 - 10 September 2026
Section titled "0.1.1 - 10 September 2026"- Smaller download and a smaller installed app.
- Free trial: 3 exports in total, each covering 1 chat and carrying a trial notice. Only an export that finishes counts. Browsing, searching and reading stay free and unlimited.
- The download is named
Chatcove-0.1.1-arm64.dmg, so it is clear it is for Apple Silicon Macs.
